Experimental Surfaces for stitch - Amanda Hislop

We are thrilled to announce the return of Amanda Hislop to Eau Brink Studio on the weekend of April 13th and 14th. Amanda Hislop, a renowned textile artist and tutor, brings her unique and contemplative teaching style to our studio once again. If you have a passion for textile art, mark your calendars, because this is an opportunity you won't want to miss.

Amanda Hislop's artistic journey is a fusion of drawing, painting, and the tactile qualities of thread, paper, and cloth. Her work is deeply inspired by the essence of the natural world, landscapes, and organic forms. When asked about her creative process, Amanda explains, "I combine drawn and painted marks with the tactile qualities of thread, paper and cloth. The essence of the landscape and natural forms inspire my work. I use drawing to record fleeting fragments observed and absorbed; I look at the familiar, see the extraordinary and respond to subtle changes in view in the rhythmic motion of walking."

This connection between art and nature is at the heart of Amanda's work. She finds inspiration in the ever-changing beauty of the world around us. "The evocative moods of seasonal change and atmospheric qualities of light and changing weather experienced when walking are a constant source of inspiration," Amanda shares. It's this keen observation and ability to capture the essence of nature that sets her work apart.

Amanda Hislop's artistic portfolio spans a wide range, from individual hangings that tell stories of their own to wall-mounted panels that invite you to explore intricate details. Her framed textile artworks are a testament to her skill and creativity, showcasing the depth of her artistic expression. Each piece is a masterpiece in its own right, waiting to be discovered and appreciated.

Beyond her stunning creations, Amanda is also passionate about sharing her knowledge and insights with others. Her teaching style is contemplative and exploratory, encouraging students to connect with their inner creativity and explore the world through artistic expression.

At Eau Brink Studio, we are committed to fostering a creative community and providing opportunities for artists of all levels to learn and grow. Amanda Hislop's upcoming workshop promises to be a transformative experience for anyone interested in textile art, whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner looking to explore this captivating medium.
