A Warm Welcome at The Warehouse, Our First Farmers & Craft Market

Last week marked a lovely milestone  our very first farmers and craft market at The Warehouse on Garage Lane in Setchey, just outside King’s Lynn. Arriving just after 7am, there was already a gentle hum of activity. We were greeted with warmth, shown exactly where to set up, and quietly reassured that everything we might need was close at hand , always a good start to any market day.

As the other traders arrived, it quickly became clear that many of them knew one another well. There’s a special kind of camaraderie that exists at markets like this — a shared understanding of early mornings, careful displays, and the hopeful anticipation of the day ahead. Despite being new, we were welcomed with genuine friendliness and soon felt part of the community — perhaps “community” is the better word, a group of people who clearly enjoy working alongside each other and supporting what the market is becoming.

Once visitors began to drift in, the atmosphere truly came alive. There was a wonderful buzz conversations flowing, laughter carrying across the space, and that unmistakable energy that happens when people gather to browse, discover, and connect. The Warehouse itself adds so much character to the experience. With its shelves of beers from around the world and the fascinating antique centre to explore, there’s already plenty to tempt visitors , and the addition of the market brings another layer of interest and discovery.

Many of the people we spoke with were regulars, familiar with the venue and clearly fond of it. They shared how pleased they were to see the market growing and becoming more diverse, with new makers and producers adding fresh ideas each time. It was encouraging to hear such enthusiasm , a reminder that spaces like this thrive because people care about them.

I’m genuinely looking forward to the future dates when I’ll be back there. There’s something very special about finding a local event that feels welcoming, relaxed, and full of possibility.

Unfortunately, I won’t be there in March as I’ll be at the Creative Craft Show at the NEC , which will be my final large national show. For personal reasons, I’m choosing to focus more on local events and opportunities closer to home, and experiences like this one at The Warehouse confirm that it’s the right direction.

Another exciting prospect is the venue’s tap room, which is currently closed for refurbishment. With plans for it to reopen in the spring, it will no doubt add yet another reason to visit , a space to sit, relax, and soak up the atmosphere after exploring the market and the antiques.

All in all, it was a day filled with friendly faces, lively conversations, and a strong sense of being part of something that is growing in the best possible way. I’m already looking forward to the next time .and if you haven’t visited yet, it’s certainly one to add to your list.
