Autumn Inspirations at Eau Brink Studio
As the mornings turn crisp and the hedgerows glow with golds, russets, and deep purples, I find myself leaning into the richness of the season. Autumn has always been a time of transition — in the garden, in the studio, and in my creative work.
The textures are irresistible: crunchy leaves underfoot, seed heads catching the light, and the softer skies that make colours seem to glow even brighter. These elements often find their way into my stitching, whether through warm palettes of fabric, layered organza, or threads chosen to echo nature’s fading splendour.
Here at Eau Brink Studio, even the landscape is changing. The trees around the pond are at last being removed, opening up the view and letting in more light. It feels like nature itself is clearing the way for new inspiration — a reminder that sometimes making space is just as important as creating.
Autumn also marks a busy stretch of shows and workshops. I’m currently preparing for the Creative Craft Show in Exeter (25th–27th September), where I’ll be teaching the Luminescent Bauble Workshop. Using Lutradur, inks, stencils, and a touch of sparkle, participants will create a glowing bauble that captures light in a magical way — the perfect project to ease us into the darker evenings of the season. Alongside the workshop, I’ll also have kits, fabrics, and stitched pieces inspired by autumn to share on my stand.
Back at the studio, our workshops continue to celebrate creativity. With pieces like the Morning Glory Kit, the Autumn Cushion Kit, and our ever-popular Posh Peg Bags, there’s something for everyone — whether you’re just beginning or looking to push your practice further.
For me, autumn is about slowing down to notice the small details, while still embracing the energy of change. It’s the season for gathering inspiration, playing with colour, and stitching warmth into the shorter days.
So, as the leaves tumble, I’ll be in the studio with fabrics, threads, and ideas swirling together — just like autumn itself.
Why not join me, either here at Eau Brink Studio or at Exeter, and let’s celebrate this glorious season in stitch?
