Mary is a well-known and much-respected textile artist and tutor, renowned for her innovative approach to mixed media techniques. This two-day workshop will focus on textile lamination – a fascinating method of bonding paper and fabric using silk screens and acrylic matte medium.

What is Textile Lamination?

Textile lamination is all about combining fabric and paper to create beautifully layered, flexible surfaces. It begins with a base fabric (like cotton, silk, or organza), onto which you apply a layer of acrylic matte medium through a silk screen. Carefully chosen paper patterns or printed images are placed onto the wet surface. Once dried, the paper backing is gently removed, leaving the transferred image embedded in the fabric – ready for further embellishment through stitch, dye, or paint.

It’s a brilliant technique for textile artists who want to bring texture, story, and depth to their work.
