Create a bold layered textile panel using the striking Mola technique

Join textile artist Angie Hill for a hands-on day exploring reverse appliqué, where layers of fabric are carefully cut back and stitched to reveal colour, pattern and depth underneath.

You will develop your own design and watch it gradually emerge as each layer is revealed. The technique creates strong contrast and wonderfully graphic results, making it ideal for anyone who enjoys colour, pattern and hand stitching.

Your finished panel could later be framed, made into a cushion, added to a bag or developed into a larger textile piece.

Time: 10am–4pm
Price: £45 per person, including materials
Tutor: Angie Hill
Venue: Eau Brink Studio, near King’s Lynn, West Norfolk

During the workshop you will:

  • learn the principles of reverse appliqué
  • layer fabrics to create colour and depth
  • transfer and develop your own design
  • cut back fabric carefully to reveal the layers beneath
  • use stitch to secure and define your shapes
  • create an individual textile panel to take home

Angie will guide you through each stage, so you do not need previous experience of reverse appliqué.
