Discover King’s Lynn through the eyes of a contemporary textile artist.

In this illustrated talk, textile artist Anita Rayfield explores how historic photographs, postcards and familiar views of King’s Lynn can be reinterpreted through stitch.

Anita shares the process behind her embroidered textile artworks, from researching historic images and taking new photographs to developing designs and translating them into contemporary machine embroidery.

The talk looks at familiar King’s Lynn landmarks and streets from a different perspective, comparing past and present and exploring how embroidery can capture atmosphere, memory and a sense of place.

Finished textile artworks, photographs and examples of the design process are used throughout the presentation.
