We will be giving ‘scrap’ cloth a new lease of life, or some of you may chose to explore some new qualities, using some traditional piecing as well as contemporary ways to join small pieces together.
Layering & inlay will be part of the workshop as we will have an emphasis on transparency and contrasts of surface.
We will find a use for the smallest of sentimental and vulnerable fragments of cloth. Paring down to neutrals we will learn or revisit some of my signature and very favourite ways to join such as flat seam, French, butting, flange, stitch rivets, darning with overlays…..
The workshop is also about many other elements of art. Making decisions, selecting and responding to the unique qualities of cloth as well as transferring these skills back in your studio. Oh and enjoying…!
