Join Cat Nash for a wonderfully creative two-day workshop where you’ll transform a duvet cover into a quilted-style Lottie Jacket — a slow, mindful make with a beautifully finished result.
Over the weekend, Cat will guide you through the entire process, from preparing your fabrics to completing a jacket with every seam neatly enclosed using handmade bias binding. You’ll also have plenty of opportunity to personalise your piece with free-machine stitching, enhancing the original print and adding your own stitched mark.
Working at a steady, supportive pace, you’ll develop a wearable garment that balances careful construction with creative expression. Whether your duvet cover is bold, subtle, vintage, modern, or sentimental, the finished jacket will be entirely your own.
What you’ll be doing
-
Preparing a duvet cover and a plain bottom sheet for lining
-
Creating your own bias binding to match or contrast
-
Cutting the jacket using Cat’s Lottie Jacket pattern
-
Piecing sections so the garment sits smoothly
-
Adding free-machine stitched details to enhance the fabric
-
Constructing and binding the jacket for a professional, fully finished result
Please bring
-
A cotton duvet cover to repurpose
-
A plain bottom sheet for the inner layer
-
Your sewing machine and a basic sewing kit
Wadding can be purchased from Cat on the day.
Sewing machines are also available to use at the studio — please request one at the time of booking.
By the end of the weekend, you’ll leave with a completed Lottie Jacket and the confidence to continue exploring garment-making from reclaimed textiles.
Designed to be accessible and unrushed, this workshop is ideal for confident beginners while still offering plenty of scope for more experienced makers.
