St Margaret's Lane - King's Lynn

Original Machine Embroidered Textile Art

Inspired by an early morning photograph I took in St Margaret's Lane, King's Lynn, this original machine embroidery captures the character of one of the town's historic streets, with Hansa House on the right.

The photograph provided the starting point, but the embroidery became an interpretation through colour and stitch. Layers of thread describe the textures of the old buildings and cobbled street, with deep blues, earthy tones and dark, expressive stitching creating a sense of depth and atmosphere.

Worked on antique hemp sheeting with cotton stabiliser, the piece brings together the character of an older textile and contemporary machine embroidery.
