In this illustrated talk, textile artist Anita Rayfield explores how historic photographs, postcards and familiar views of King’s Lynn can be reinterpreted through stitch.
Anita shares the process behind her embroidered textile artworks, from finding and researching historic images to taking new photographs, developing designs and translating them into contemporary machine embroidery.
The talk looks at familiar King’s Lynn landmarks and streets from a different perspective, comparing past and present and exploring how embroidery can be used to preserve atmosphere, memory and a sense of place.
Finished textile artworks, photographs and examples of the design process are used throughout the presentation.

Anita Rayfield is a contemporary textile artist and tutor based at Eau Brink Studio in West Norfolk. Her work combines photography, digital design and embroidery to interpret landscapes, architecture and stories through textile art.
