Iceland

Iceland is an original framed textile artwork inspired by the dramatic colours, shifting skies and powerful landscapes of Iceland. Deep blues, icy greys, white highlights and a warm golden sun combine to create a bold embroidered scene filled with movement, contrast and atmosphere.

The artwork was created from a combination of three separate photographs, carefully brought together to form one imagined landscape. The completed image was then digitally developed and converted into an embroidery design. It was transferred to the embroidery machine, where thousands of individual stitches recreated the scene in thread.

Layered stitching gives the artwork depth and texture, from the rippling water and dark distant land to the sweeping clouds across the sky. The contrast between the cool blue tones and the glowing sun gives the piece a strong sense of light, weather and open space.
