Inspired by an original photograph taken on a quiet Norfolk country road, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork explores the patterns created when sunlight filters through overhanging trees.

The strong contrast between the sunlit road and the intricate shadows is interpreted through layers of machine embroidery. Deep blue-grey threads create the shifting shapes across the road, while golden greens, earthy tones and glimpses of blue suggest the surrounding trees and summer sky.

Rather than reproducing the photograph exactly, the embroidery captures the atmosphere of a peaceful Norfolk summer's day through colour, stitch and texture.
