Spend a calm, creative day with Angie Hill exploring how texture, stitch and a touch of sparkle can be transformed into small pieces of wearable textile art.

This workshop is deliberately contained and achievable — perfect if you enjoy stitching but don’t want to commit to a large project right now. Over the day you’ll complete two finished brooches, each using a different, contemporary technique.

You’ll begin by stitching onto Aquafilm, layering thread and colour to create a delicate embroidered design that appears to float once the film is dissolved. Angie will guide you step by step, making this an accessible technique even if you’ve not tried it before.

In the afternoon, you’ll work with geometric shapes and beadwork, learning how to embellish them for a bold, modern finish — textural, individual, and very much not old-fashioned.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with plenty of guidance, conversation and time to enjoy the process. All materials are provided; you just need to bring your sewing machine, a basic sewing kit, your lunch, and a willingness to play. Tea and coffee flow freely throughout the day.

You’ll leave with two original brooches — finished, wearable, and entirely your own — along with ideas you can easily continue exploring at home.
