Join Ruth Holmes for a creative, hands-on day making your own handmade artist’s book — a beautiful way to combine imagery, stitching, and personal response.
Working step by step, you’ll begin from scratch by constructing the book cover using card and tissue paper, then cutting and preparing the internal pages. Ruth will guide you through binding your book using a simple but effective stitched threading technique, with the option to explore alternative binding methods if you’d like to experiment further.
Each double-page spread is designed to tell a story: on one side, an image; on the facing page, your stitched or creative response. You’re welcome to bring your own postcard-sized image to work from, or choose from Ruth’s carefully curated collection of inspiring imagery. During the workshop you’ll complete one fully finished art page, then take your book home to continue developing the remaining pages at your own pace.
By the end of the day, you’ll have a unique, personal artist’s book — both a finished piece in its own right and a starting point for ongoing creative exploration.
