Katie – Kimono Style Jacket workshop (with Cat Nash)

The Katie Kimono is a relaxed, free-cut jacket designed to make the most of your favourite patchwork pieces, bringing treasured fabrics together into one practical, wearable garment.

Over the two days, you’ll begin by creating a quilted, blanket-style base, layering batting between an outer patchwork surface and a lining fabric. From this prepared cloth, the jacket is cut with minimal waste, allowing the patchwork to take centre stage and flow naturally through the finished piece.

The kimono is finished with handmade bias binding around all edges, giving a clean, considered result. Its generous, free-size shape makes it easy to wear and highly versatile — and for those feeling adventurous, the design can be made fully reversible, offering two garments in one.

Working at a calm, supportive pace, Cat will guide you through each stage of the process, from constructing the quilted base to cutting, assembling, and finishing the jacket with care and attention to detail.

By the end of the weekend, you’ll leave with a completed Katie Kimono and the confidence to continue working with large-scale patchwork and quilted garments at home.

Please bring

• Enough fabric to cover a king-size bed twice (to allow for both outer and lining fabrics)

• Your sewing machine and a basic sewing kit

Batting will be available to purchase from Anita on the day.

Designed to be accessible and unrushed, this workshop is ideal for confident beginners while still offering plenty of scope for more experienced makers.
