Slow down, work with your hands, and rediscover the quiet pleasure of making with cloth.

In this relaxed and welcoming workshop, Cat Nash introduces you to the timeless craft of rag rug making. Using simple tools and recycled fabrics, you’ll learn how to build texture, colour, and pattern by hand — transforming humble materials into something both practical and beautifully expressive.

This is a workshop about rhythm and process as much as outcome. You’ll explore traditional rag rug techniques while being encouraged to work intuitively, allowing the materials to guide your decisions. Whether your finished piece becomes a small sampler, a cushion panel, or the beginning of a larger rug, the focus is on slow, mindful making rather than rushing to a result.

Throughout the day, Cat will offer individual guidance, supporting you as you experiment with texture, composition, and colour in a calm, sociable studio environment.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with new hand-stitching skills, a piece of work in progress, and a deeper appreciation for sustainable, tactile textile techniques.
