Looking for a creative day that feels relaxed, inspiring, and a little bit magical?
Fragile & Translucent invites you to spend the day exploring delicate fabrics, light, and layered surfaces — discovering how materials shift, soften, and reveal unexpected textures as you work.
This is a welcoming, supportive workshop where many people come on their own and quickly feel at ease. There’s no pressure to get things “right” — just space to experiment, play, and enjoy the process.
You’ll move between creative stations, each offering a different way to explore fragile, stitchable materials and build confidence as you go.
During the day you’ll explore
Sheer synthetics & heat distress
Transform Lutradur and scrims with heat to create lace-like textures and beautifully organic edges.
Stitch-through papers
Discover the possibilities of stitching into paper, parchment, and lightweight surfaces — embracing what holds and what breaks away.
Ink, wash & drip on sheers
Create soft colour movement and subtle marks using inks and diluted acrylics.
Layering into a small finished piece
Bring your favourite samples together into a delicate hanging or book-style artwork to take home.
Gentle guidance and demonstrations are offered throughout, so you’ll feel supported at every stage — whether you’re new or experienced.
