Join us for a fresh take on our much-loved Messy Taster Workshop. This new version explores light, layering, and delicacy, working with translucent materials that shift, soften, and change as you work with them.
This is a playful, experimental day designed to encourage curiosity rather than perfection. You’ll move between four tables, each offering a different way to create fragile, stitchable surfaces.
What we’ll explore
Sheer synthetics & heat distress
Work with Lutradur and bonded scrims, learning how heat transforms them. Melt, distort, and open up surfaces to create lace-like textures and expressive edges.
Stitch-through papers
Experiment with stitching papers, baking parchment, and lightweight interfacings. Discover what holds, what tears away, and how fragility becomes part of the design.
Ink, wash & drip on sheers
Apply inks and watered acrylics onto sheer fabrics, encouraging bleeding, soft halos, and organic movement.
Layering for small hanging pieces
Bring your favourite elements together to create a small layered hanging or book-page style piece combining transparency, texture, and stitch.
No previous experience is needed – just a willingness to experiment and enjoy the process. Anita will guide you through each technique with demonstrations, tips, and plenty of encouragement.
