Mary McIntosh Pattern of Life - two day workshop
- Low stock - 8 spaces or products available
- Inventory on the way
Mary McIntosh is delighted to offer her expertise once again in this exciting two-day workshop, where participants will create a one-of-a-kind textile art piece using vintage dress pattern tissue. This unique workshop invites you to reimagine traditional sewing patterns as artistic material, transforming them into a personal and decorative light hanging or fabric panel.
What to Expect:
- Day One: Begin by selecting your garment pattern tissue—a vintage child or adult garment pattern works best, especially those with intricate bodice or sleeve pieces. Modern paper patterns are not suitable for this process, as we will work specifically with traditional tissue patterns. Using matt medium and silk screens, these tissue pieces will be laminated onto a sheer fabric, creating a delicate yet sturdy base.
- Day Two: Bring your creation to life by assembling your laminated pattern pieces with cotton organdie. Incorporate sewing notions for added detail and texture. Complete your work using simple machine stitching to create a beautifully finished piece.
This workshop is designed for all abilities, from beginners to experienced textile enthusiasts. The step-by-step guidance ensures that everyone will leave with a personal, professional-looking piece.
