What is Textile Lamination?

Textile lamination is all about combining fabric and paper to create beautifully layered, flexible surfaces.

I often hear people say, “Oh, two-day workshops must be so much harder to plan than one-day ones!” And truthfully? It can be—but not always. Like most things in life (and certainly in textile art), it depends. Let me explain.

This week I’ve finally carved out some time to dive into one of those tasks that always seems to sit on the back burner: properly exploring the embroidery machine. If you’ve ever looked at these machines and thought “they look amazing, but a bit intimidating” — you’re not wrong! They hold huge creative potential, but getting to that point takes time, learning, and a lot of patience.

There’s something special about stepping away from your daily routine, surrounding yourself with creativity, and spending a day with like-minded people who just get your passion for making. That’s exactly what a workshop at Eau Brink Studio offers.

What Is Free Motion Embroidery?

Free motion embroidery lets you draw with your sewing machine. By lowering the feed dogs and using a darning or free-motion foot, you control the fabric’s movement—giving you the freedom to “sketch” with thread. The results can be abstract, delicate, detailed, or bold—it’s entirely up to you.
